Birthday.

It's crazy how fast time is going. Our baby turned 3 the end of January. I had ever intention of blogging about his special  day when the memories were fresh in my mind.
The night before his birthday he was laying in bed practicing holding up 3 fingers.
the next morning he came bouncing out of his bed saying  I'm three, I'm three!

John took him to wal-mart to pick out his birthday cake. and he chose carrot cake because of the carrots on the top. They also brought candles back that relight (three year old's can't read yet. lol.) after you blew them out. Needless to say the top of the cake was moist by the time the candles were removed from the cake.

B has been begging for legos since Christmas. I am looking forward to many quite hours of him playing legos in the coming years.
Some thing about turning three makes him feel like a big boy.  We have been using it to our advantage too. :)

Life in our world...

Not sure where to start with this post so much has happened since last posting.
November was spent getting lots of things organized and finishing up a lot of different things before the packing and moving began.
Tim Horton treat.
We ate Subway more times
 then I care to remember.
December started off with  packing up the house. we started in the basement and and worked our way up stairs. Not sure how many Labels and rolls of packing tape we went through.
December 20,2013 was Johns last day of employment with the job he had for the last (almost) 6 years.

Last pictures in their empty rooms

The next few days was very busy with the final move and cleaning the house.

Traveling.... they spent many hours in their car-seats.

We left Alberta December 27, spent 6 days in Manitoba. Which 3 of them days one of us had the flu bug.
Two o'clock on Friday afternoon of January 3, 2014 we left for Elnora Indiana to attend EBI for 2 terms. We had awful weather pretty much the whole way. But Praise The Lord we  made it safe. Not to sure if all our nerves arrived along with us.

The Children are still trying to adjust to life. B told me the other night, "mom lets just go home".
The work load for John seems quite heavy with all the class assignments that need to  be done. Pray for peace and understanding on how to manage time. And for comprehension on studies.

We are excited to be here in Elnora taking some time out, to study God's word. To see how we can use this time, to be better prepared for what He is calling us to.

Christmas.......

                          Merry Christmas

Christmas happens to be one of our favorite  seasons. Celebrating the birth of our lord and Savoir Jesus Christ.  This year is a bit different with packing and moving everything in our house out into storage. We are living with the bare necessities.  Sleeping on the floor and using boxes for our clothes.  Meals around here can be strange at times, as we are trying to use up everything in the freezer and pantry. I challenge you to empty your freezer and pantry  this winter, see how much food you have stored up.

Blessing to all and  have a very Merry Christmas, remembering JESUS is the reason for this Christmas season.

A little Update.

Life has it's a way of going by to fast. We have 2 months left here in our "home" before we move out. It is with  feeling of apprehension and yet great excitement. As a family we are excited to be following God's calling and are very Thankful for the training time we are getting to better prepare us for the future in Cambodia.
We have been purging and organizing stuff to help make the last months easier to pack up and move everything into storage. Feels great to rid the house of  "stuff" that was not needed or not wanted anymore.
If you have any great tips on storing stuff for long periods of time. Please feel free to share them with us.

Please continue to Pray for our family as we make some huge adjustments in the next months.
Especially for B as he is a home body (like his mom) and hardly likes to go away.
Blessings to each one of you.
The Whitman Family.

Where God is leading us....

Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (NIV)
This verse give us the peace in knowing God will guide us and give us the strength and wisdom we need from day to day We are excited that God is leading us to Cambodia, a Country where the needs are endless. But most of all a country that is considered unreached, where many have never heard  the " Good News".
We have a lot of things that need to be done, and decisions that need to be made in the next few months. Please Pray that we can make good, wise decision on what stuff to store and what to get rid of. And all the other decisions that come along with moving overseas with 2 small children.
Until next time, Gloria
